Sophie Ellis-Bextor- Rebellion (Lies) (Arcade Fire Cover)
Covering Arcade Fire is giving in, so lift those heavy ear lobes…so maybe we don’t have a way with lyrics like Win Butler, but we have a knack for selecting the covers that actually present something unique. Not like you can really do this track wrong if you stick to it, but it’s nice to be reminded how sick this anthem was. It especially makes you recall the desperation in Butler’s vocals. The absence of the original tones is happily nostalgic here, but we still dig the mellow, smooth voice of Ellis-Bextor.
